History Club was formed in the College under the auspice of the Department of History on September 21, 2005.
Aims and Objectives:
The aims and objectives of the Club are as follows:
- To promote the study of History among the students
- To encourage the students in pursuing higher studies in history
- Holding of seminars and symposium connected with history
- Organizing historical tour, visits of historical places etc.
Any student or staff of the College, who are interested in history, may become a member by paying the annual membership fee which is fixed at Rs. 10.00. At present, there are 60 members enrolled in the Club.
Election of the office bearer is held every year and enrolment of membership also takes place anually, becoming a regular activity of the club. The club functions smoothly under the supervision of the Department of History.
Activities:
In order to achieve the aims and objectives, the club has organized the following activities:- One Day Historical Tour has been organized to visit the Chief’s House at Lungleng Village, about 30 Km from Aizawl. The Chief’s House was built by Mr Khamliana Sailo, Chief of Lungleng in 1930, and the first of its kind in Mizoram. About 25 members attended the Tour.
- One Day Historical Tour was organized to Sibuta Lung at Tachhip, Lianphunga Bung at Sateek and other surrounding historical places. About 35 members attended the Tour.
- Some of the Club members have also attended seminars relating to history organized by Mizo History Association during the reported period.
