Although the College Archives was formally set up in 2006, the collection of materials and tools was done since its inception. The Archives also serves as a Museum which is an important place where students and the College community can enrich their knowledge, particularly in Mizo history.
Objectives:
The objectives of College Archives may be highlighted as follows:
- Record and maintenance of important College documents.
- Collection of Mizo traditional dress, tools, implements etc,.
- Collection of important documents not necessarily pertaining to the College.
- To Collect and display photograph of meritorious students
- To preserve the photos of activities, records/reports of the College and its bodies like NSS, NCC, History Club, Chess Club, Students Union etc.
Various Collections in Archives:
- Mizo traditional dress, various equipments and tools have been collected and displayed in the show case of the Archives.
- The Archives has also collected a number of important College documents, documents concerning Mizo history, administration and other matters.
- All the VCDs/DVDs of the various College functions have also been kept.
- Photos of the College Donor (Pu T. Romana), all the former Principals’ and distinguished students have been framed and posted in the Library.
- Rare books and those that are out of print have also been collected and stored in the Archives.
The materials are collected through donation from the students and the staff while some others are purchased. If the materials are not available for sale, permission for reprography or recording is obtained where possible and then hosed in the Archives.
Due to the limitation of rooms and buildings, the College authority has not been able to provide a separate room for Archives. Therefore, the Archive is temporarily placed in one corner of the College Library. The College Archives has been managed and maintained by the Archives Committee, which was formed late in 2006.
